I saw that exhibition within a year of it opening. It wasn't amazing. The dwarf fortress aspect was a wall painted with screenshots. It made me both happy and sad. The funny little punctuation marks on the wall meant so much to me, that ñ is a were creature coming to do horrible things! I had an emotional reaction, but I know the thousands of other people won't ever really get those stories about how glorious a steel clad captain of the guard is, and how sad it is when they die of starvation after fighting animated yack hair for a few seasons. It was helpful for me to really viscerally grok there is art I don't understand that has deep meaning to others.
