Things SC2 Taught Me About Business
Playing Starcraft 2 taught me a thing or two about business:
(1) When you have a competitor, attack early and often - but be prepared for an aggressive advance.
(2) Be prepared to make dynamic decisions when things don't go as planned, but make sure they are calculated and not spontaneous.
(3) Identify your competitor's weakness, which may change as the competition advances.
(4) When you identify something that works, continue to focus and pursue it until it no longer does, be prepared to change your strategy based on the conditions.
(5) Be prepared for small defeats in battle, that does not mean the war has been lost.
(6) Things can often times turnaround when you think you have an advantage and vice versa - do not get discouraged or complacent.
(7) Don't underestimate the value of espionage. Closely monitor your competition to assess their weakness.
(8) Take time to learn from great players and it is OK to copy aspects from their approaches.
(9) Never underestimate your competitors - never get complacent.
(10) Use smoke screens, decoys, and other techniques to keep your strategy concealed by your competition.
