James or Jacob in the Bible?
- dhosek 6y agoThere's also the fact that Ἰησοῦς (usually rendered in English as "Jesus") is the Greek rendering of ישוע or יהושע which is usually rendered as Joshua in English. I'd note also that the Vulgate has the Epistle of James as “Epistula Iacobi.” The original King James Bible text (which is what you'll find in the nightstand of your hotel room) does some interesting things with names as well, using, for example, Noë for Noah in the Old Testament, but when he is mentioned in the New Testament, he becomes Noah. The Vulgate uses Noë throughout.
