NASA's Perseverance Mars Rover Extracts First Oxygen from Red Planet
- themodelplumber 6y agoFascinating. So by my dummy math, if you could get even 400 of these toaster-size devices on Mars, in just over one year you could produce enough oxygen to provide appropriate levels of rocket-blast-off oxygen for a trip carrying four astronauts? 6g / hour * 400 = 2400g/hour or 57,600g a day = 21 million grams in an earth year. 55,000 lbs. = 25 million grams about? And you'd need about 1/25th that amount for those astronauts to breathe for a year... Just to say I'm curious to know how this technology could scale.
