FLoC provides zero control - it's just additional personally identifying data sent by your browser, making tracking easier. It does not actually prevent any existing tracking methods.
- okareaman 5y agoThat's a good point. I want to learn more about it before I pass judgment
- ehsankia 5y agoFLoC itself does not prevent fingerprinting, but it's part of the Privacy Sandbox [0] where they are doing a bunch of things to mitigate those kinds of tracking, such as Privacy Budget [1]. Note that other browser suffer from the same issues. [0] https://www.chromium.org/Home/chromium-privacy/privacy-sandbox https://www.chromium.org/Home/chromium-privacy/privacy-sandb... - MikeUt 5y agoThat's literally adding an additional privacy anti-feature, and claiming it "provides control" because it can be disabled, to bring you back to the state of privacy you had before.
