It may not be foolproof (ie. if the person in question doesn't use iOS) but at least this shows Apple has considered the potential for abuse.

  They covered that too. > And even if users don’t have an iOS device, an AirTag separated from its owner for an extended period of time will play a sound when moved to draw attention to it.
