The problem is that most of these patterns work. You can be irritated as a user, disgust as a designer, but decision makers are concerned that the number (MAU, ARR, MRR) must to go up, therefore dark patterns are popular. And I hate them with all my heart.
- Nextgrid 5y agoBy the same logic, theft, fraud and other crime also works (in terms of delivering the expected outcome to the perpetrator) so does this mean we as a society should accept and condone this behavior?
