Are you worried police is shooting you and your phone?
The whole article make its look like any police interaction is somehow a thread to peoples live. Its absurd.
Nothing wrong with recording (where legal) but if you need to stream it and store it on the blockchains you probably need a reality check. What really puts people in danger is the car also a phone being used in the car and then a bazillion other things before police.
- dctoedt 6y ago> Nothing wrong with recording (where legal) Except that there are plenty of examples of a cop going after a bystander who's recording the cop's interaction with someone because the cop doesn't want it recorded — and the cop tells the bystander something like "you're obstructing a police matter," which is ... not correct.
- noxer 6y agoI case you could not figure it out I expressed favor to record police interaction where legal. Form all parties (ordinary people but also cops themself should). There was absolutely no talk about bystander but for the sake of your invalid argument I agree they should also record if possible. The "..."you're obstructing a police matter," which is ... not correct. " Is a pointless generalized statement that is therefore false. Bystanders especially groups and yelling people pose a significant risk to the police and others involved. If you can't see why they would not let people come close to take the perfect tiktok video you just ignore the reality of police work. They are trained to assure the situation is as safe as possible for everyone involved and keep uninvolved out. Not to provide the best recording angle for bystanders. If you serious think they want people at a distance so they can commit crimes and the evidence videos will be from too far away, then you are delusional and completely out of touch with reality. Its absurdly stupid argument especially if you take into account that almost all cop interactions do not have recording form bystanders so there plenty opportunity for bad cops to do bad.
- dctoedt 6y agoYou're conflating different situations; I hope it's unintentional on your part and not a deliberate effort to hijack the narrative to terms you prefer.
- noxer 6y agoThere was no situation given just a general statement that if police says "you're obstructing a police matter" that this would be a lie.
- davidgould 6y agoOr even assaulting and/or arresting the bystander filming.
- noxer 6y agoDo you know what assaulting means? An arrest inst assaulting anyone. Also its not for filming but for not following orders which is exactly what cops are paid do do. If you dont want to get arrested follow the order they give you.

- noxer 6y agoYou complete ignore what I wrote and post random links that make no sense in the context. My stance is you should film. My stance is you should not interfere in any way with police as a bystander unless you ask first and get permission to help. My stance is that if you get ordered to do something you have to follow that order. If you dont, you are in fact interfering and you are subject to lawful arrest. The fact that police can give you illegitimate order doesn't change that. For example they may not have the authority to demand you to stop filming but they can order you to leave the scene or hold appropriate distance. And various other stuff like to pull your hands out of your pocket. Its relevant to the safely of themself and everyone around. If you dont comply they have the right to arrest you. And as soon as they tell you that you are under arrest you lose your right to record or at lest you right to hold and point the cam the way you want. And yes there rules all apply even if you think the police is doing something illegitimate or brutal or whatever. You are not a judge and your subjective interpretation of the situation does in no way change what what you are and aren't allowed do do. Its really not that hard of a concept. Since you like links here is one for you https://youtu.be/qiZi-BpzFuc?t=72 https://youtu.be/qiZi-BpzFuc?t=72 As you can see people seriously think they need to film stuff because a dozen officers clearly are trying to kill someone and the only thing that could save the person are the bystander with phones. But police keeps them at a distance so they can kill the person anyway without video evidence. After 90 minutes they gave up because too many bystanders could potentially film the killing. Brave brave bystanders saving people form state funded killer pigs. People are so out of touch with reality they act like little kids who insist that all adults are complicit to be mean to them for no reason.
- sneak 6y ago> The whole article make its look like any police interaction is somehow a thread to peoples live. In 2020 in the USA people were twice as likely to get killed by a cop than killed in a mass shooting. Police killed over a thousand people in a single year.
- scotty79 6y agoPhrasing it like that makes it seem like it's some kind of freakish accident. Cops are taught to shoot center of mass of a person basically until they stop moving. They are expected to do this and are judged according to that expectation. Police is killing people because that's exactly what you expect of the police whenever policeman feels he's threatened. In USA of course, not in many other first world countries.
- Clubber 6y agoThere is a show called South Park where the two hunters find something they want to shoot (usually off season) and right before they shoot, they yell, "It's coming straight for us!" The animal, usually just grazing, looks up and has an expression like, WTF? The hunters use this tactic to get around hunting laws. >Police is killing people because that's exactly what you expect of the police whenever policeman feels he's threatened. This South Park skit reminds me of when police say, "I felt threatened."
- noxer 6y agoWhat an absurd comparison. This only tells me that being killed in a mass shooting is very very very unlikely which is in fact true. But being killed by police is also very very very unlikely in fact its de facto zero if you aren't a criminal/drug abuser and comply with police orders.
- mbirth 6y agoDid you not see recent news: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fj66LBel_WQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fj66LBel_WQ He "only" got pepper-sprayed, but now imagine if he tried to unbuckle himself using his hands where the frightened cop couldn't see them...

- nickserv 6y agoUnfortunately it's not absurd. Police in the US are extremely dangerous. They have by far the highest killing rate of any advanced nation, and can do so basically with impunity. Also you do not need to be driving. I've had extremely frightening encounters with police when walking in a public space in broad daylight. The only times (yes, plural) I've ever had a gun pulled on me was by US cops...
- noxer 6y agoSad if that is your subjective reality but you can easily do your own research on the numbers and you will see this is complete nonsense. And comparing killing rate is nonsense too. Other places have other risks and other laws. The only thing you need to know is how likely are you in your place to be killed by the police. The answer is very very very unlikely unless you are a criminal, drug abuser or incapable of following orders given to you by the police.
- pwinnski 6y agoThis seems like an egregious abuse of statistics. You, a randomly-selected individual within the borders of the United States, are extremely unlikely to be murdered by police--or anyone else. You, a person who is in the process of being pulled over by US police, have just had the likelihood of being murdered by police skyrocket. Is it more likely than not? Of course not! But it's dramatically more likely than it was before you were pulled over. If you're a woman, it's hardly any more likely. If you're white, it's not much more likely. If either of those things are not true, then the odds increase enough that it's certainly worth asking your phone to record whatever happens.

- noxer 6y agoYou imply that you are more likely to get killed if you aren't white but this is the classic narrative that you where told by media. The whole George Floyd and BLM nonsense. There is absolutely no evidence that this claim is correct. There are disproportional more police interactions with non-whites and thus more such police interaction can result in a killing. That does not put a randomly-selected individual that happens to be not white at a higher risk of getting unjustifiably killed. The main reason people get killed by cops is because they are criminals and dont comply.
