I am willing to cede the entire 2.4GHz spectrum to IoT devices. We can use 5GHz and 6GHz for full-fat internet devices (TV, laptop, phone). This is what I've done at my home.
- otabdeveloper4 6y agoGood idea, but 5Ghz doesn't work for many building materials. I had to go back to 2.4 to get reception further than 1 meter from the AP.
- perryizgr8 6y agoA single AP is useless with 5GHz. You should look into mesh systems, and try to get one with a wired backhaul for even better coverage. I splurged a bit on my mesh, but I'm glad I did. I have never experienced Wifi coverage so good in my life.
