There should be a name akin to "uncanny valley" to describe the deadly terrain between what we have, in everything from "driver assist" and "adaptive cruise control" and contemporary "autopilot", and the currently vacuous promise of reliable resilient autonomous vehicles. Might I suggest "Death Valley."
