The Smart 5G City Means Permanent Surveillance and Risk
- vmception 6y agoThere is nothing unique about 5G that 4G connected cities or wifi connected cities or LoraWAN connected cities don't already do, or can't already do. The only rebuttal - even after skimming this article - is that 5G infrastructure will theoretically make it easier to connect to more devices more reliably. But that's not going to stop with 5G protocols, as this protocol isn't even perfect for the expected number of devices that will need to be connected over time.
- kag0 6y agoThis article has nothing to do with 5G. It only passively mentions that Shanghai has fiber and good 5G coverage.
- wdb 6y agoStill don't understand the need for 5G. Don't 4G support like 300Mbit/s? I never been able to get those kind of speeds with my internet phone plan. Not even close. To me, 5G just feels like a way to get people upgrade (to add 5G add-on) or to renew their plan without any benefit.
