My bread and butter is helping companies get to the cloud, but my number one guideline is that the local developer experience must be supported as much as the infrastructure improvements are. Otherwise, you get a mishmash of fantastic visibility into your workloads and better provisioning cycle times, which then immediately get cancelled out by developers who have to work 3x as hard to do the same thing they were doing before.
