Fun fact, Microsoft requires all their vendors to have mandatory password rotation.
- bombcar 5y agoMandatory password rotation does help in one place - when passwords to an account are shared. So if Microsoft Employees 1,2,3 share a password to Vendor X's system, and employee 2 moves to another part of the company or leaves, the shared password will eventually change and employee 2 won't know it anymore.
- tylermenezes 5y agoNot talking about feature support in an app. Employees of companies which contract with Microsoft must rotate their passwords. (In addition to attending mandatory training, using an anti-virus, etc)
- dyingkneepad 5y agoPasswords have to change every 3 months. Calculate M as how many months since you lost acces. Increment the last password digit by M/3.
