Spikes don't work too well on harder materials (like concrete). I actually have no idea how well they would work on normal road asphalt.

- dylan604 6y agoI was going to comment about that as well. If you're doing long distance like steeple chases or cross country where it is on turf, spikes are okay. I personally didn't like them, and preferred the cushioned distance shoes.
