Thanks for the comment here. I couldn't agree more, it takes quiet the effort to stick on message and thesis. Fortunately for us we have been on it for the past 5 years now. During this time there has been a ton of learning and recalibrating. Still a long way to go, but so far so good :) As per your question, in our case the titles are the same but the role can differ. ie. for a particular project a Principal can take the lead and then invite other Principals into the engagement in more of a supporting role.
