- thisiswater 5y agoYes, but the headline says it's a potato battery. It's not. It's a battery with a potato in it.

- nardi 5y agoIt is a potato battery—that's what it's called when you use a potato as the electrolyte for a battery.
- publicola1990 5y agoAs another comment explains, it is merely getting back some of the energy expended in extracting metallic zinc and copper from their ores. Also such potato batteries have been a school science projects for long.
