Absolutely infuriating mobile site behavior- try scrolling down just a little, site rips the content across the screen and inserts a garish title bar. Scroll back up just a line and the huge opening title graphic slams down from above. Can I just read this?
- ur-whale 6y agoI think there's a business case for building a machine learning baseed tool that separates content from crap automatically. And it's not like there's a shortage of quasi-labeled training data.
- em-bee 6y agoreader-view in firefox already does this. strips everything except the content
- jeroenhd 6y agoBefore Mozilla's rewrite of Firefox, I had this great addon installed that just hides all floating elements. Great for blocking stalking consent forms and title bars, or even worse, those social sharing bars at the bottom of the article. Ublock origin's element zapper works to kill the title bar, and reader mode is also available. Workarounds for bad site design, I know, but at least I can read the text without distractions. Sadly, I'm still waiting on Mozilla to reopen all addons back to me. I know I can use the nightly version of the browser and a custom addon collection to force the installation of the addon, but I don't want the instability that comes with it. I'm already running the beta so I can have my about:config with all the stability issues that come with it.
