This is a very simple and unique approach to gather metrics of your site while maintaining the privacy of the user. I’m just curious how can you use this solution with a static site generator like jekyll

The article approach requires access to apache access logs, so you'd need to host your static site on an apache (or other) server with logs you can access.

  Got it makes sense :) This means I can’t use this with github pages

    It'd be awesome if github and gitlab started offering these kinds of metrics for their free static hosting.
