I have seen lots of trade mills without a guard there. Just googling image shows quite a few that don't have a guard there. If the issue is the guard it's more than just peloton that then needs to revise their design. What I do find more interesting is how the treadmill is still running even after the other kid gets off. There is a reason a lot treadmills have lanyard that shuts it off.
