This article notes that a 640 square foot studio runs for $800,000 here. Given SF’s exodus, isn’t this the wrong time to be selling luxury residences on an island enclave?
I also found this selling point curious:
> "Buyers are yearning for less density, a slower pace and a return to the important things in life," he said. "Yerba Buena Island uniquely allows residents to experience San Francisco how it’s meant to be lived."
Yes, lots of people want SF to revert to a slower pace of life and less density. And younger residents and transplants want the opposite, because they wants SF’s highly desirable location and lifestyle to be within their budget. That tension is at the heart of city politics. But couldn’t people seeking a slower life to simply move to a suburb or an entirely different area? I feel like right now SF is in a middle ground where neither the low density or high density people are getting what they want, and at these prices, they could both have their dream lifestyle elsewhere.
