Just because tesla has some good tech and people like their cars doesn't mean you have to love Elon. He's kind of an over-entitled asshole and he pushed to open his factory in california way way too fast during covid. I wonder how many people got covid from that, did any die?
I salute his engineering and business accomplishments, but I bet it's hell to work for or with him. And sure, he vastly overpromises schedules and technical achievements. Yet his army of engineers and workers achieve a lot. He's the living embodiment of overpromising 1 year out and under-promising things for 10 years out. Who could have imagined it would work out this well for Tesla. He turned the whole car industry around (or legacy automakers at least see the future now).
- nexuist 5y agoI like Elon's personality but I do not particularly care about promoting him as a good person or some kind of hero. I care instead about the goals he is furthering and from my independent analysis Tesla is the best electric automaker and the best software company in the automotive industry without a shadow of a doubt. It's funny how I didn't even mention him in my original post and yet he's brought up as a refutation to my earlier points. I do not care about what Elon has to say, I care about what the company releases and so far the company has released self driving products that have had more of an impact on the market and our culture than any other automaker.
