NHS Covid-19 App Draining Battery Since Monday?
I got a notification on Monday on my iPhone telling me how the Covid-19 app had changed or something, but since then it seems that my battery, and my wife's battery are running out super quick.
I had a look at the battery stats, and apparently the exposure notifications had used 22% of my battery since the last charge.
The last app update I can see what 23rd March, and supposedly the latest update was blocked (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-56713017) - I wonder if the 23rd March update was waiting to turn something on in the next update, but being blocked the notification is making it go a bit crazy?
Has anyone else noticed this?
The only other thing I can think, is that the PiHole is blocking something, but I can't see anything obvious.
- combinatoration 6y agoMy iPhone is suffering the same problem ... which is why I have found this web site. Incidentally the Notification on Monday was to say that the Lockdown Status had changed. Overnight last night, with no Apps active, my iPhone 6 dropped from 100% to 60% (normally drops about 3%). The Activity by App in Battery Settings says Exposure Notifications have accounted for 45% of the battery usage in the last 24 hours. I am going to try to report it to the NHS Covid App Support.
- dnh44 6y agoI've just checked on my iPhone and exposure notifications were only using 3% of battery. I've turned on my wireguard which connects to a pi-hole and I'll report back tomorrow.
- dnh44 6y agoOkay so I've not experienced anything unusual after turning wireguard on.
- combinatoration 6y agoMy earlier post was a false alarm. I did a hard-reset on the phone (and a normal close-down-and-restart afterwards for good measure) and it has been fine since
