My trick: read books as if you’re doing research for your own writings. Sometimes I’ll actually publish an essay based on what I’m reading or just keep it for myself. I think it gets at the same thing this article is getting at: have an objective for reading. And btw, it works for other habits too. Having goals or milestones to strive for.
