Around here I mostly get calls from "Microsoft Support". I tell them I need to get to my computer and put the phone down on the table. They are surprisingly patient. When they get desperate to talk with me I'll spout a little giberish which keeps them connected a little longer. It does not take much effort keeping them busy. It works for me as it is not a problem to block the line for 5 - 10 minutes. If I am bored I engage with the call. But that spiel is getting old.
