Anyone know what software (library?) that is referring to?
- rockdoe 6y ago"Mozilla spokeswoman Ellen Canale said the company has no knowledge of any bug that was connected to the exploit." Firefox OS phones didn't have Lightning ports, so it's not clear what code from Mozilla Apple would be using for that. It seems possible there was a mixup with some other MPL licensed software or the "NS" and "NSS" naming that both Mozilla and Apple use.
- m463 6y agonextstep and netscape?
- rockdoe 6y agoYes. "Netscape Security Services" (NSS) is one of the Mozilla libraries that's (somewhat) widely used by other software, and would be a candidate, but I've never heard about Apple using it.
- aneutron 6y agoIn a lightning port driver ? Is there some sort of crypto-primitives sort of thing going on in lightning spec ?
- rockdoe 6y agoGiven that it's Apple hardware it wouldn't surprise me if it's doing some kind of authentication to check if it's a legit peripheral :-)
- rockdoe 6y agoWelp, Twitter says Apple was using a 2003-era fork of this code.
- aneutron 6y agoI am puzzled too as to what possible Mozilla library would be used in a lightning port driver (I'm assuming). Does Mozilla have some sort GLib / Apache utils ?
