Simbad astronomical database: all publicly known extrasolar astronomical objects
- zeristor 6y agoQuite interesting to have all of this astronomical data, however my eyes alighted upon this scary statistic: 14,813 acronyms described for Simbad That is an awful load of acronymns, a perverse amount even.
- SiempreViernes 6y agoHonestly I'm not sure if 14000 acronyms is a big number for a community of this size, it is accounting for nearly 400000 publications after all. You might also want to ponder the fact that there are about 4 times as many names as objects being described by these names :)
