I've yet to see anyone with strong opinions about MobileCoin's connection to Signal point out the fact that the cryptocurrency project started at the same time that Moxie worked on using SGX in Signal: https://signal.org/blog/private-contact-discovery/ https://signal.org/blog/private-contact-discovery/ This was also at the time of the 2017/2018 bull run. Most likely the idea came from that work, then the crypto market crashed, and soon after Brian Acton funded Signal, and so the project became less of a priority.
