Isn't the real problem that the FSF has completely failed at its stated goal of expanding software freedom for the entirely of Stallman's tenure? I get that to many people he is an objectionable creep, but from a purely results orientated position, why keep him around?
- ravenstine 5y agoDon't you have to demonstrate that he is the reason for their failure? How come we don't ask if the goals of the FSF are a lost cause?
- jfb 5y agoDo you, though? Like, if he were of pristine character and not repulsive to a significant subset of the people involved, it would still be a useful conversation to have -- given how controversial he is, why fight the fight?
- nsbfb 5y agoAt least to me, the FSF brand is one of a stale, stagnant organization that never left the 90s. They could find someone more charismatic.
- jfb 5y agoThey could maybe find someone who is conversant with the world of computing we find ourselves in, more recently than 1988?
