- durovo 5y agoThis opinion hurts me. Will you apologize now? EDIT: My phrasing was a bit too aggressive. But I believe that this opinion that people should always apologize if their opinions offend anyone is absurd. People should have the right to be offended. Being offended does not mean that you deserve an apology.
- Udik 5y agoNot at all. If your opinions are correct, and yet they hurt someone, do you need to apologise? Or maybe you think that it's impossible for a correct or reasonable opinion to hurt others? Because in that case I have tons of counterexamples. A lot of people were offended by the theory that man descended from apes. Do you think Darwin should have apologised?
- prepend 5y agoI think it depends on what the opinions are. I used to be a vegetarian and had friends who would be upset and hurt when people ate meat. I don’t think meat eaters should apologize. There’s lots of situations where someone says something reasonable, and someone gets upset and no apology is necessary. Your claim that absolutely if opinions hurt people then the opinion haver should apologize , is wrong I think. And will lead to less discussion and a net negative to society.
- fsflover 5y agoYou hurt me by this comment. I demand an apology from you.
