n2t-wasm: Emulator for the nand2tetris computer
- datameta 6y agoGot to the end of week one of Nand2Tetris Part 1 on Coursera and got distracted by other courses. I am going to find time to continue it because understanding every layer of a computer from gates to application layer sounds like a very fun mental exercise and would illuminate the areas on the hardware/software stack I need to dive deeper into
- naikrovek 6y agothis is a nearly essential course for anyone who really wants to understand how computers work. very enlightening course for anyone wanting to dip their toe into CPU design as well, perhaps. the design here is given to you, and I don't know anyone that wouldn't change a few things about it after finishing the course.
- emschwartz 6y agoAgreed. I can't recommend the course enough. They do a great job of simplifying multiple classes worth of material so you understand the key concepts quickly. If you haven't studied how computers are built up from logic gates, each of the lessons is mind-blowing.
- ducaale 6y agoNice, I have tried doing something similar[1] but in the terminal. Unfortunately, I discovered that it is not possible to have a proper input handling in the terminal :( [1] https://github.com/ducaale/hack-cpu-emulator https://github.com/ducaale/hack-cpu-emulator
