You can use OpenBCI [1][2][3] to encode information into your memory efficiently. There is a package on GitHub that you can use with OpenBCI to encode things into your memory in your sleep utilizing audio Anki flashcards [4]. There is also a package that allows you to do this while awake [5].

- anonytrary 6y agoElectrode caps are a dead end in neural computing. They don't work for anything but the simplest tasks, and applied to complex tasks, they are complete gimmicks. You have to have an in-vivo invasive chip if you want to actually do anything meaningful with the data in your brain.
- hhs 6y agoThanks for the links. Please note that the newsworthy part was on the Nature article on the relationship between neural engagement and learning: https://users.ece.cmu.edu/~byronyu/papers/HennigNN2021.pdf https://users.ece.cmu.edu/~byronyu/papers/HennigNN2021.pdf
- disabled 6y agoGreat point: there is a big difference between encoding things to memory versus actually learning new things (concepts). I appreciate your correction. :-)
- neatze 6y agoWhy this is better then emotiv[1] products? [1] https://www.emotiv.com/ https://www.emotiv.com/
- disabled 6y agoOpenBCI is completely open source. Emotiv is a lot more difficult to deal with when it comes to interfacing [1]. The reference I provide is sort of old but it is definitely applicable to Emotiv products in general. - neatze 6y agoDo you know by any chance if OpenBCI can also be used for electrical stimulation, if not, is there similar opensource project for stimulation ? (I believe this achieved via same electrodes)
- disabled 6y agoNo. It cannot. It is strictly an EEG device, which measures electrical signals from the brain. Also, any sort of electrical interference (from other electrical stimulation devices) will cause inaccurate readings. I am not an expert on this: However, if you are looking for electrical stimulation, the safest is considered to be transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), but I am not necessarily endorsing it nor am I calling it safe. There is also transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS). You can find guides on it here [1], and there are ways to build such devices. Such devices are also sold on Amazon, I believe. There is also somebody who made a transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) device, which is obviously very dangerous [2]. This treatment is used for things like depression and migraine headaches. You may want to search that username to the Instructable link I provided for interesting information.
