"Classical" is an imprecise term in the popular nomenclature. It's tossed around as generally meaning "european orchestral music from the past".
Music of the classical period is basically from ~1750 - 1820 but when people say "classical music" they're potentially referring to a period of nearly 600 years, where there have been a huge variety of different styles.
I like some "proper" classical period music but also quite like some music of the baroque period right before. But mostly find myself listening to later stuff into the 19th century and early 20th
I like romantic period stuff the most and into french impressionism and minimalism.
I've spoken with a number of people who "can't get into classical music" who, turns out, had only listened to music of a certain era and weren't familiar enough with the material to know they might enjoy music of other eras.
