Data from 500M LinkedIn users has been scrape and posted online for sale
- sam_goody 6y agoIt is kinda annoying that all this data is probably real easy to get for a black hatter, but for me to see what data is exposed is completely off the table - even if I knew where to buy (I don't), and had the money to pay (Probably not), I have no idea what the laws are and don't want to play the game. My email is on HIBP and haveibeenzucked, so I know that at least some stuff has been dumped, but it really matters to me know exactly what - on Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, etc. Also, just how widespread do these dumps make it? Would it be on file-share sites? On Tor? Is newsgroups still a thing? Would this likely make its way to a HR or interviewer at big corp, or just to [Insert country here] hackers?
- MR4D 6y agoUh, doesn’t Google do this literally every day? And Bing, and.... This is public facing data. Aggregating it is not a security breach.
