So You’ve Been Vaccinated. When Are You Safe?
- hntroll666 5y agoIf you were under the age of 70 or so, with no comorbidities, you were already quite safe from the virus. If you're young and healthy, there was no medical justification for you to receive the shot in the first place; you almost certainly won't benefit from it, and the risks of taking it are as of yet unknown. This piece of propaganda is in the awkward position of suggesting that the shot will make one safe, when in fact young healthy people were safe to begin with, and only expose themselves to some unknown amount of risk by taking the shot, and saying that even after exposing oneself to unnecessary risk, that one still won't be immune, and one still has to wear the silly mask and isolate oneself, etc.
- walterbell 5y agoWe are also one year into community transmission, which means a subset of the population already has organic/natural immunity (both variant-specific antibodies and long-lasting T-cell protection against a range of coronavirus variants) after recovering from Covid. Vaccine clinical trials excluded people who had already recovered from Covid. As antibody and T-cell immunity testing becomes widely available and affordable, we can quantify the subset of the population whose natural immunity precludes the need for artificial (vaccine) immunity.
- kmos17 5y agoIt is really depressing to read such an opinion steeped in disinformation on a tech site, the science behind vaccines is indisputably proven in general. These specific vaccines have gone through trials and the risk is statistically insignificant. But the bigger risk from not taking the vaccine is even if you have no risk factor at all, you will most likely spread it to others who do.
