It's interesting that the post and at least one comment has mentioned intermittent outages. I understand that this is a beta product however can anyone speculate what might be the cause? Is it because there's no yet enough satellites in the constellation or is it that the rotation of the constellation is still be tuned or something else?
- geerlingguy 6y agoThe app shows the reasons, typically around 1-2 hours total per day (usually < 1 hour in the four days I've tracked it so far). Most of the time is due to 'obstruction' (when a sat is in field of view of dish, but there's something in the way—in my case a tree covers about 10° of the sky). After that is 'beta downtime', which is typically 10-20 minutes per day. Then 'no satellites' (see https://satellitemap.space https://satellitemap.space), when there's no satellite within broadcast distance—typically 5-10 minutes per day at my latitude. Hopefully the latter two metrics go down as time goes on :)
