If government spent 1/100ths as much on developing decentralized infrastructure as it does on social welfare outlays, I've convinced it would do far more to reduce to income inequality than it's doing now with all of its redistributive programs. And I believe government is ideally suited to fund the development of this technology, because it is the only entity that can capture the gains of open source adoption.
