Or a better way for a very wealthy person with far more power and influence than the average person to, in secret, lobby the leader of the government.
Frankly I would rather have this lobbying out in the open where it can be held accountable.
- iso1631 6y agoThose secret lobbying meetings with rich and powerful people happen regardless. Compared with most lobbyists the Queen doesn't have power.
- zepto 6y ago“A very wealthy person” is a weird way to reduce her to nothing. She is also the only person in the world who has the experience of a weekly conversation with the last 14 prime ministers of Britain. She is the embodiment of the state’s institutional memory.
- bengale 6y agoShe’s not just a very wealthy person, she’s our monarch. You can obviously argue the system could be different/better but it’s not, and there is no appetite here to change it. That being the case I think her keeping her political views between the PM and herself is the better way to do it.
