After Facebook, LinkedIn faces 500 mn users' data leak: Report
- weekay 6y agoDoesn’t seem to be a actual data leak , but a collection of scraped LinkedIn user data. Interesting to see if the data includes profiles that aren’t publicly viewable.
- lionkor 6y agoMisses the point of what a 'leak' is.
- prepend 6y agoScrape != leak If someone scrapes my public info from LinkedIn and bundles it together for sale, that’s not a leak. There’s an entire industry that does this. I consider leaks when data are breached and private data are revealed.
- okamiueru 6y agoAs long as what is scraped is what is publicly available, I'd agree. If it accesses data otherwise locked to "visible to contacts" or the likes, then I would no longer consider it scraping. (not saying this goes against what you said, but I'd like to add some nuance to the inequality)
