I don't know if it's because of a lack of understanding or bad workflow, but almost all of the times I've seen bugs caused by git operations to slip through the cracks, it's been because someone decided that a pretty history was of upmost priority. Rebasing is probably necessary in some cases, but it can be a real foot gun as well.
