  Homebrew STM is a pretty common and simple in principle. I used to have a chemistry prof who would guide a group of high schoolers through building an STM head each year. Homebrew SEM is probably much more difficult and rare.

  The scanning electron microscope project seems far more involved than this one. I submitted the SEM before this one by the way but it unfortunately did not catch on.
