Apple engineer likened App Store security to ‘butter knife in gunfight’
- sornars 5y agoStrangely, this Twitter thread by the reporter seems to contain more details than the article: https://twitter.com/PatrickMcGee_/status/1380194940236353536?s=20 https://twitter.com/PatrickMcGee_/status/1380194940236353536...
- tjr 5y agoI guess better than just butter in a gunfight.
- dzhiurgis 5y agoWhy Apple doesn't require source code to publish the apps? Seems obviously better way to ensure compliance - not fool proof, but way better than random binaries? In Salesforce land not only your source gets scrutinised but also your back-end (initial release only tho).
- bredren 5y agoCook mentioned this as a point in his interview w Swisher last week. Knowing this evidence was in discovery, I wonder what Apple’s refutations will include. I had thought Cook’s argument was that having one App Store, overseen by Apple, offered security of the platform as a whole. Not that the present App Store security was water tight.
