Red Bull Makes Nothing
- 1cvmask 6y agoAren’t all consumer goods companies marketing companies at their core? Like Coca Cola etc...
- snypher 6y agoThe Twitter thread states Coca-Cola Co spends ~8.5% of revenue on marketing. (Red Bull is closer to 35%)
- xyzzy21 6y agoARM doesn't make anything either - it's 100% IP just like Redbull. And RAMBUS is/was another. This is a quite viable business model. It's largely the reason why Intel is on the skids but ARM is in ascendency: no one company is smart enough to think through all the optimal product expansions and product extensions possible with a good idea.

- not_math 6y agoIt seems like they at least created the recipe at first, so it's not just 100% marketing. > Austrian entrepreneur Dietrich Mateschitz was inspired by an existing energy drink named Krating Daeng, which was first introduced and sold in Thailand by Chaleo Yoovidhya. He took this idea, modified the ingredients to suit the tastes of Westerners, and, in partnership with Chaleo, founded Red Bull GmbH in 1987 in Chakkapong, Thailand.
