I was hoping to replace my laptop with a NUC running Linux, that I would transport between home and office. Since a NUC is a (small) desktop machine it doesn’t have a battery. Hibernate would have been great.

Sleep may run out of battery and I lose everything open. Sleep may not power back up correctly and I lose everything open. I only use sleep mode for short trips between locations, with car rides or walking to another office. But overnight? Hibernate or shutdown for me.
