Intel picked up Altera in 2015, and now AMD picks up Xilinx in 2021. I'm curious to see whether AMD plans to do anything significant with this aquisition, or is it just executives following a path well worn?
- pclmulqdq 6y agoMy guess was the latter, given how high AMD's market cap is currently. However, Xilinx/AMD have some common technology requirements around 2.5d integration and 7 nm IP. I was hoping for an FPGA-SoC with some Xeon cores when Intel bought Altera, and now I'm hoping for one with Epyc cores.
