If you find yourself having to cut your work hours to the tune of $1000/mo (or more realistically, personal time that you value) to self-host some stuff compared to the time it would take to maintain non-self-hosted equivalents, then by all means, don’t – but that’s definitely not how “actual cost” works otherwise.
