As tinkerers, the personal website is seductive. And that’s fine if you’re mindful of it, or you’re just starting out. But at a certain point it’s a good idea to be clear on what problem you’re trying to solve. And be wary of solving a problem that doesn’t exist, and may never exist. There’s an opportunity cost to spending a bunch of up-front time setting up a bunch of crap you may never take full advantage of. You could be focusing on the content, finding an audience. It’s helpful to zoom out and remember the timeless mantra: “You ain’t gonna need it.”
