This database is already widely used for identity verification by lenders and other industries that require verification. If you’ve ever been asked to verify your information online and get asked a bunch of questions about where you lived in 2012 or the license plate of your car, it might’ve come from this database.
It has numerous challenges - have you ever gotten a question and you’re pretty sure it shows information for a roommate or family member? That’s common. If you add a family member to a credit card, then you can expect to start seeing questions about you living at their address and all the things that cascade from it. It’s maddening.
But, the high noise doesn’t mean that it’s without value to ICE. Yes, it means that needle in a haystack approaches are going to lead to false positives. But, for most people there’s more correct than incorrect. Now, consider that this can be cross-referenced with an three government data sources that might not be in Lexis-Nexis and you’ve got a much larger potential issue.
