The way the article describes what he said seems slightly confusing and it didn't make sense until I watched the video:
> Then he said: “It was basically three years of intelligence training, teaching normies how to do intelligence work. It was basically what I was doing anonymously before.“
> Realizing his mistake, Watkins quickly added, “...but never as Q.”
I didn't understand why "was doing anonymously before" would imply that he was Q but watching the video it sounds like what actually happened was that he said:
> It was basically what I was doing anonymously before but never as Q
All at once without pausing, but after that he realized his mistake and there was a long pause before he burst out laughing. Based on this it seems like when he said "was doing anonymously... but never as Q" the first time he had meant "was doing but not yet as Q" (meaning that he started posting as Q after that). Then he continues "never as Q, because I'm not Q" and it appears that this time he was making a halfhearted attempt to pretend that when he said "never as Q" he meant "I have never posted as Q."
It's confusing because if he hadn't started laughing it wouldn't have been totally clear that he had accidentally admitted being Q because of the somewhat ambiguous way the first sentence was worded.
