FWIW Apple is one of two Diamond Sponsors of the LLVM Foundation [1]. I'm not sure how much that is, but I'll bet it's a really big pile of money. LLVM foundation has public financials, IIRC, so it might not be hard to guess. You could debate which open source communities that Apple should be supporting, but at least they're supporting some.
