I really really hope that Akon pulls off first the city in Senegal and then this city but I'm quite skeptical. I haven't seen any clear indication that the demand for tourism in Senegal would be large enough for supporting that community and the cost of the planned cities seems just astronomical to the point that it'd be impossible for locals to buy property there and 1) benefit from the value of that real estate hopefully going up but 2) be part of the community and provide services rather than having to commute in like low-wage workers do today in SF from outlying cities.
